The rain slips aimlessly like
loving fingertips over my eyes,
my ears, my cheeks, my lips.

The rain on the leaves outside
my window. A saxophone
on a record player somewhere.
All the stars reflections,
elongated on the rippling lake,

trying to prolong September.
Flowers, balloons, and a dog
on the street by the noodle shop.
Everyone looks at the dog.
Rainclouds, gentle in the
morning light, shimmer boldly
in the evening.
